Speaker:

Greg Winchell, CFE, Sr. Investigator

Pinnacol Assurance

Topic: The Elements of a Workers’ Compensation False Claim

Greg Winchell, CFE, is a (non-post certified) criminal investigator with Pinnacol Assurance, the state fund for workers’ compensation in Colorado. He will present a case study of a false claim that was successfully prosecuted through the Attorney General’s office. He will briefly differentiate between a malingering and a false claim and will provide a theoretical model of the elements false claim. He will then illustrate the model by presenting a case study in detail.  He will present the primary evidence directly to the audience in an attempt to place the audience in the seat of the investigator rather than simply telling the story.
