About the Speaker
Eric Nowicki is a special agent with the U.S. Department of Commerce Office of Inspector General (DOC OIG) specializing in white collar crime—specifically grant and contract fraud matters—relating to DOC equities, contractors, and subcontractors.
Eric is a U.S. Air Force veteran who served honorably on active duty for nearly eleven years. Eric has a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Colorado-Boulder, a Masters of Science (MS) in Strategic Intelligence from the National Intelligence University, and a Bachelors of Arts (BA) in Arabic and Government from Georgetown University. In his spare time, Eric enjoys playing beach volleyball, cooking new recipes, and spending time with his wife and two daughters.
Program Description
An introduction to the U.S. DOC OIG, its mission and investigative priorities, a primer on two recent DOC OIG initiatives, and a discussion about common general fraud schemes. There will be a deep-dive into labor mischarging—an increasingly common fraud scheme amongst government contractors—along with recent relevant case examples.
