Michelle Slocum
Michelle Slocum is a Senior Manager in the Armanino Risk Assurance Advisory practice, where her primary area of expertise includes assessing and testing internal controls, evaluating processes and working with management to develop recommendations for improvement. Complimenting her 13 years of internal auditing experience, Michelle also has expertise within the hospital and healthcare industry. Michelle’s work experience includes performance of financial, operational, and regulatory internal audits utilizing the guidelines of the Institute of Internal Auditors. She also incorporates data analytics within projects to maximize value for her clients.
Claire Koch is a Manager in the Armanino Data Automation and Transformation group with 8 years of experience helping organizations turn complex data into actionable insights. She specializes in internal audit and payroll analytics, compliance monitoring, and data‑driven process improvement across an assortment of industries. Claire leverages tools like ACL, Python, and Power BI to deliver efficient, technology‑enabled solutions that align people, processes, and systems for lasting results.
Program Description
This session provides an in-depth look at payroll risk and how internal auditors can leverage data analytics to identify, assess, and mitigate potential issues within the payroll process. Attendees will gain insights into common payroll risk areas, practical analytics techniques, and how a payroll analytics suite can improve risk visibility, strengthen controls, and support continuous monitoring.
